![]() We ended up with a sunken ship about 20 feet tall, 20 feet long and 10 feet wide and a “coral reef” to lead into the sanctuary… it was the perfect eye catcher to get you in the mood for a little fun. I love giving the kids a fun way to enter into the VBS experience so I do the front hall while a very talented friend handles the stage decorations and each teacher does their room. The submarine was handled on the stage and in another area so I went with a little different underwater spin and decided on a sunken ship for the front entrance. Our theme was “submerged” with an underwater and submarine focus in the decorating. Let’s “dive in” with a few pictures of this years insanity. (And I’m anxious to move on to all the other topics of the month) ![]() Since another June is behind me, VBS week is all cleaned up, and I survived my class of rambunctious 1st grade boys, it’s time to write my first DIY post of decorations, and share some behind the scenes stories and secrets. (Ok… There are a lot of limits but maybe that challenge is part of the fun). I can’t really explain my love for VBS decorating exactly, I just get so excited to take each new theme and run with it. Whether I’m decorating for a movie or game release where I worked, or a birthday party, or the wonderful world of Vacation Bible School, I tend to go big or go home … Or go cry in a corner and start over.Īnd this year was no exception! Yes, there may have been tears once or twice by a few of us. June rivals December for being my busiest time of the year but it is one of my favorites! Weeks of VBS stuff, my daughters birthday, followed up with the youth mission trip has kept me going so I do apologize for the long delay in posting and hopefully I’ll get to the highlights of it all eventually.Įvery year June begins knee deep in VBS planning and decorating, and those who know me best know that VBS decorating is the pinnacle of my bite-of-more-than-I-can-chew, big-idea insanity. (And for the record… “Jesus + Nothing = Everything” is always the right equation.) I don’t know how we pull off what we do, but after a very busy month, I’m excited to show you what God pulled off this year. This year I sat with my daughter on the floor looking at our insanity and asked her… How did we do that? However, we’ve been doing extreme VBS decorating since way before Pinterest and every year I’m just as amazed as anyone at what we end up with. ![]() Our youth pastor was doing a sermon series at the time called “Jesus + nothing = Everything” so it seemed like a good answer… “God + Pinterest = VBS decorations”. There are also options for custom tours and activities so you can immerse yourself in French culture, food, shopping and more. That was my response last year when someone asked me how I come up with the ideas for our VBS decorations each year.
